World Cup update 1

So nothing is going as I hoped in this World Cup so far... Pretty much none of the teams I was hoping to win are doing so, except Czechs versus the USA. Unfortunately, the same Czechs then performed dismally versus Ghana, and the US managed to get a draw with a sluggish Italy.

Ukraine was demolished by Spain 4:0, and France has barely managed 2 pitiful draws, including the latest one with South Korea. Croatia lost to Brazil - expected, some might say, but after a pretty equal game, I though. But then they drew with Japan, a team they should have beaten. Serbia were pommeled 6:0 by Argentina, and Poland was eliminated by the damn Germans.

Holland did advance, although I am not as big a fan of Holland as I used to be. There's just too mich arrogance about the Dutch team, which has not really won anything except a European championship back in 1988.

The only positive is that Portugal did advance, but again, with performance not entirely convincing. So did England.

Ukraine, Croatia, the Czechs and France really need to come forward with some miracles now to qualify further.
